Totally new to Game Server Hosting

Dear Lowpings,

I am interested in running my own COD4 server, but I have many questions.

Software, for the game? Is it already on the server when you lease the space? Or do I have to upload it? Is there a special version of the game I need to get?

Bunkbuster? Is this automatically taken care of and updated?

Game Updates? Same question as above.


Like I said, I have never run a game server before and I don't even know where to start and needless to say your site offers little to no information to someone who has never done this before.

Maybe I could call someone, but I can't find a phone#.

Is there anyway someone can walk me through what I need to do and what you provide?

FYI, I am in the Chicago Market.

Hi Tim,

If you rent a call of duty 4 server, the game should be already installed on your server. Punkbuster is updating by himself but you still need to enable it manually. Games update are managed by you but the control panel is easy enough to understand so you shouldn't have any trouble patching or dispatching it. If you have any other questions, just ask them.

He said it all, and really you will see its not too hard to pick this stuff up fast, you will be an expert within a few days and lowpings is by far the best!
